"The girl is mine" (La chica es mia) es el primer sencillo de Michael Jackson de Thriller, el álbum más vendido de la historia. Es un dúo entre Michael Jackson y Paul McCartney, antiguo integrante de The Beatles. La canción llegó al número 2 en EE. UU. (en el Billboard Hot 100), y al número uno en las listas de US R&B.

La letra de la canción, gira en torno a la disputa entre Michael y Paul por una chica.

Jackson y McCartney grabaron otras dos canciones: "Say, say, say" y "The man" en 1983, incluidas en el álbum "Pipes of peace" de McCartney.

La canción también figuró en el álbum recopilatorio HIStory (Book I) en 1995, y más recientemente en el Thriller 25 en el 2008.
