USS Gato

USS Gato ha sido el nombre recibido por dos submarinos de la Armada de los Estados Unidos, el nombre, hace referencia a una especie de pequeños tiburones que habita a lo largo de la costa oeste de México.

  • El primer submarino líder de su clase, fue dado de alta el 31 de diciembre de 1941, participó en combate durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial y fue vendido para desguace el 25 de julio de 1960.
  • El segundo submarino de clase Guerra Fría, colisionó con el submarino soviético K-19 en el mar de Barents a 61 metros de profundidad. Fue dado de baja el 25 de abril de 1996.
