Ernakh

Ernakh, Hernac o Ernac (Prisco: Ήρνάχ "Hernach") fue el tercer hijo de Atila. Tras la muerte de éste en el año 453 el imperio de los Hunos se desintegro y sus restos fueron gobernados por sus tres hijos: Elac, Dengizich y el propio Ernakh, quien consiguió, al contrario que sus hermanos, un acuerdo con el Imperio Romano de Oriente para instalarse y crear un nuevo feudo al sur del Danubio, en Dobruja (en la actual Rumanía).

Tras la muerte del primogénito Elac en la Batalla de Nedao (454) no hubo ya un liderazgo unificado sobre los restos de los hunos, aunque se suele considerar a Ernakh como sucesor de su hermano Dengizich de Akatziroi, reinando desde el año 469 hasta el 503 sobre los hunos que vagaron por una gran parte del antiguo imperio y habitaron las tierras de la actual Ucrania. Ernakh logró afirmarse también como el gobernante de los protobúlgaros Onogurs que habían llegado con los hunos Acatzir en 463 durante el reinado de su hermano Dengizich.[1]

De acuerdo con la Nominalia de los kanes de Bulgaria, un gobernante llamado Irnik fue líder de los búlgaros durante 150 años y su reinado se inició aproximadamente en el año 453. Algunos historiadores consideran que Ernakh e Irnik pudieron haber sido la misma persona.
