Jarmo

Jarmo es un yacimiento arqueológico neolítico situado en la región de Kurdistán (Iraq), representativo de la cultura homónima. Cuenta con quince niveles, entre cuyos cinco más profundos no se han encontrado restos cerámicos. Fue excavado por Brainwood entre 1948 y 1955. Según las medidas de radiocarbono, aunque se duda de su confiabilidad, el núcleo estuvo ocupado entre el 7090 y el 4950 a. C.

Se han descubierto viviendas tipo tauf, rectangulares y con varios habitáculos, donde se estimaba que vivieron hasta 550 personas. Sabían coser y tejer lino y lana, cultivar, aprovecharse de la domesticación de la cabra, cazar y cocinar de distintas maneras, como asar y hervir. Se adornaban con brazaletes, pendientes y dibujos corporales y reproducían en estatuas animales y mujeres desnudas.
