Lavatera assurgentiflora, con el nombre común de Island Mallow, Mission Mallow, Royal Mallow,[1] Island Tree Mallow, Malva Rosa es una especie de planta herbácea perteneciente a la familia Malvaceae. Es endémica de California, donde se encuentra solo en el Archipiélago del Norte.

Se puede encontrar en la costa de California, donde se ha tomado para ser cultivada. Se utiliza como planta ornamental y como protección contra el viento.[2]

Descripcion

Lavatera assurgentiflora es una hierba perenne expansiva o un arbusto generalmente superior a un metro de altura y acercándose a cuatro metros de altura máxima. Las hojas miden hasta 15 centímetros de largo y de ancho y están divididas en 5-7 lóbulos dentados. Las vistosas flores tienen cinco oscuras vetas de color rosa profundo con pétalos que son de forma rectangular y de 4,5 centímetros de largo . La fruta tiene forma de disco y se divide en 6 u 8 segmentos cada uno con una semilla.
