María Esther Díaz

Maria Esther Díaz (Langreo, 9 de mayo de 1965)[1] es una abogada, actual alcaldesa del municipio asturiano de Langreo por el Partido Socialista Obrero Español. Fue también presidenta de la Mancomunidad Valle del Nalón durante tres años, presidenta del Patronato del Museo de la Siderurgia y de la Comisión de la Función Pública y Recursos Humanos de la Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias.

Esther Díaz llegó a la alcaldía de Langreo, tras ser concejal del Grupo Socialista desde 1995,[2] en 2003, arrebatando así la alcaldía a Izquierda Unida, necesitando el apoyo de éstos para gobernar. En 2007 revalidó la alcadía aumentado en dos concejales (10 en total sobre 21). Repitió como candidata en las de 2011, manteniendose en el cargo pese a la pérdida de tres concejales, siendo el peor resultado del PSOE en Langreo desde el inicio de la actual democracia.

Vive en La Felguera, Langreo, está casada y tiene dos hijos.
