Miklagard

Los pueblos nórdicos de la Era vikinga que tuvieron contacto con el imperio bizantino durante su expansión por el este de Europa (ver Varegos), usaron el nominativo Miklagard o Miklagård (del Nórdico antiguo Miklagarðr, de mikill 'grande' y garðr 'ciudad') para designar a la ciudad bizantina de Constantinopla.[1]

El nombre pervive en el islandés moderno Mikligarður y en idioma feroés Miklagarður.
