Najor

Najor o Nacor (Heb. נָחֹור) es el nombre de dos personajes y de una ciudad mencionado en la Torá y la Biblia.

Según el Génesis, Najor fue el hijo de Sarug y padre de Taré, quien era el padre de Abraham. Vivió ciento cuarenta y ocho años, desde 2177 hasta 2029 a. C.[1] Según el Libro de los Jubileos, su madre fue Melca, hija de Kaber y se casó con 'Iyoska, hija de Nesteg del pueblo de Ur Casdim (el hijo de Arfaxad de quien Ur recibe su nombre). Najor tenía veintinueve años de edad cuando nació su hijo Taré y vivió hasta los 148.[2]

Según el Génesis, hubo otro Najor que era hijo de Taré, nieto de Najor (el hijo de Sarug) y hermano de Abraham.[3] Najor se casó con su sobrina Milca, hija de su hermano Aram y hermana de Lot. Este Najor vivió en la tierra de su nacimiento al este del río Éufrates en Jarán. Con Milca tuvo ocho hijos, y con su concubina, Reumá, tuvo otros cuatro, doce en total, algunos de los cuales llegaron a ser cabezas tribales. (Génesis 11:27,29; 22:20-24.) Por medio de su hijo Betuel, Najor llegó a ser abuelo de Labán y Rebeca; Rebeca se convirtió en esposa de Isaac, hijo de Abraham. Este Najor fue así bisabuelo de Lea, Raquel, Jacob (Israel) y Esaú.[4]

Según el libro de Génesis, Najor es también el nombre de una ciudad ubicada en la región de Aram-Naharaim.[5] De acuerdo a la Biblia, Abraham le pidó a su siervo que viajara a Najor a buscar esposa para su hijo Isaac. El siervo de Abraham se dirigió entonces a "la ciudad de Najor", posiblemente Harán o un lugar cercano, o a la Nahur que con frecuencia se menciona en varias tablillas de Mari del II milenio a.C.[6] [7] Cuando Jacob se separó de Labán, este invocó "el Dios de Abrahám y el Dios de Nacor" para que juzgase entre ellos.[8]
