«Set fire to the rain» —en español: 'Prender fuego a la lluvia'— es una canción de la cantante y compositora británica Adele, perteneciente a su segundo álbum de studio 21.

Escrita por Adele y Fraser T. Smith y producida por Smith, la power ballad fue lanzada como el tercer sencillo del álbum el 4 de julio de 2011. La canción alcanzó la posición número uno en las listas de popularidad de Bélgica, Polonia y Países Bajos. En otros países, como Austria, Dinamarca, Finlandia, Alemania, Italia, Nueva Zelanda, Noruega y Suiza, logró ubicarse dentro de los diez primeros lugares.

Composición

"Set Fire to the Rain" es la quinta pista del segundo álbum de Adele, 21 . Fue escrita con el productor Fraser T. Smith , con quien ha trabajado en varias canciones. Está escrito en la tonalidad de re menor y la voz de Adele se expande desde Ab3-D5.[1] La canción describe los elementos contradictorios de una relación, y la imposibilidad de dejar ir lo que se muestra en la letra "Tú y yo juntos, nada mejora / Pero hay un lado para que no conocía, no sabía / Todas las cosas que decía, que nunca fueron verdad, nunca es verdad / Y los juegos que juegan, que iba a ganar siempre. "[2] [3] . El sencillo es uno de los más pop del álbum,[4] la canción se caracteriza por John Murphy de MusicOMH como un " power ballad ".[5] En contraste con la sobria producción de la mayoría de las canciones en el álbum, la canción cuenta con instrumentación exuberante y un arreglo de muchas cuerdas[6] [2] sobre un ritmo de medio tiempo.[7]
