The Impressions fue un grupo de canto estadounidense así como una de las bandas vocales de R&B más populares de los años 1960.

En 1957 Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield y los hermanos Arthur y Richard Brooks crean el grupo en Chicago con el nombre Roosters cosechando el primer éxito, "For Your Precious Love" (1958). Las productores siguienes del cuarteto vocal tienen una clara influencia gospel. A partir de 1964 Curtis Mayfield se consolidó como el compositor y autor de los éxitos e integró temas políticos. Títulos como "Keep On Pushing" (1964), "People Get Ready" (1965) o "We're A Winner" (1968) expresaban una autoestima de la raza negra - un tema que, Mayfield con el comienzo de su carrera en solitario en 1970 sería central en sus composiciones. Tras su salida del grupo, la banda perdió en relevancia, no en vano el grupo incluido en 1991 en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame[1] y en 2003 en el Vocal Group Hall of Fame. El grupo sigue en activo.
