Camilo Egas

Camilo Egas (Quito, 1889 - Nueva York - 1962) fue un pintor ecuatoriano.

Se formó como pintor en la escuela de "Bellas Artes" de Quito y en las academias Real de Roma, San Fernando de Madrid y Colarroisse de París. Al regresar de Europa tuvo la intención de radicarse en Ecuador y pintó cuadros precursores del indigenismo. Desde 1927 hasta su muerte se radicó en Nueva York. Entre 1935 y 1962 ocupó el cargo de director de la Escuela de Pintura de la New School for Social Research.
