Edward Abbey

Edward Paul Abbey (29 de enero de 1927, Home, Pensilvania - 14 de marzo de 1989, Oracle, Arizona) fue un escritor y ambientalista estadounidense.

Trabajó como guardabosques y vigilante de incendios para el National Park Service. Escribió varios libros sobre la intrusión de la cultura del consumo en el entorno natural estadounidense.

Desert Solitaire de 1968, es uno de sus trabajos más conocidos, situado en el suroeste de Utah. Su novela de 1975 The Monkey Wrench Gang, describe las hazañas de una guerrilla de ecologistas, inspirada en numerosos activistas de la vida real. Murió debido a una hemorragia esofágica, a consecuencia de las complicaciones de una operación quirúgica que sufrió.
