The Apartment (El apartamento en España) es una película estadounidense de 1960, del género comedia y drama, producida y dirigida por Billy Wilder. Protagonizada por Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine y Fred MacMurrayen los papeles principales.
Ganadora de cinco premios Óscar 1961: al mejor director, al mejor montaje, a la mejor película, a la mejor dirección de arte y al mejor guion original. El filme está preservado en el archivo de la Biblioteca del Congreso de los Estados Unidos.

Argumento

Jack Lemmon y Shirley McLaine en El apartamento.

Baxter es un empleado contable de una gran empresa de seguros en Nueva York. Ha descubierto la forma de «ascender» en la empresa, que consiste en ceder su apartamento por horas a varios directivos para que ellos lleven a sus amantes de turno. Tiene que solucionar los pequeños problemas que le ocasionan los usuarios del apartamento y se enamora de la amiga de su jefe. Un día se le presenta un problema difícil de resolver.
