Elect the Dead es el álbum debut solista del vocalista de System of a Down, Serj Tankian. El disco salió a la venta el 23 de octubre del 2007. Serj dijo: "Es un disco de rock con varios tipos de sonidos con diferentes instrumentos", y añade: "No sé hablar de mi propia música muy bien". El cantante asegura que este álbum tiene la misma energía que el primer trabajo de System of a Down.

Tankian ha declarado que mientras algunas de las canciones son nuevas, muchas de ellas han estado con el por un tiempo
