La galera (Squilla mantis) es un crustáceo estomatópodo autóctono del Mediterráneo y aguas marinas cercanas. posee dos apéndices raptores y el caparazón es relativamente blando.

Gastronomía

En España es un marisco tradicionalmente asociado a las clases populares. Se valora especialmente en invierno, ya que los ejemplares están llenos de huevas lo que potencia su sabor. Utilizado para hacer caldos de pescado, para arroces y guisos, se consumen también fritas y a la parrilla. [cita requerida]
