En linguística aplicada, el método de grammar translation (método clásico, método de la gramática y traducción) es un método para la enseñanza de idiomas extrajeros que deriva del método tradicional de enseñanza del griego y el latín. Éste método requiere que los estudiantes traduzcan grandes cantidades de texto, palabra por palabra, y que memoricen varias reglas gramaticales y excepciones así como largas listas de vocabulario. El objetivo de éste método es tener la capacidad de leer y traducir grandes obras maestras y clásicos.
