Ian Kershaw (Oldham, Lancashire, Inglaterra, 29 de abril de 1943) es un historiador británico destacado por sus biografías de Adolf Hitler.
Recibió educación en el St Bede's College, Manchester y las universidades de Liverpool y Oxford. Comenzó como medievalista, pero en la década de 1970 se volcó sobre el estudio de la historia alemana.
Es profesor en la Universidad de Sheffield. Es el discípulo más importante del historiador de la RFA Martin Broszat. Imparte un curso sobre el estado nazi y otro titulado 'Alemanes contra Hitler'.
