In Through the Out Door es un disco de estudio realizado por Led Zeppelin, y publicado por Swan Song Records el 15 de agosto de 1979. El álbum fue nombrado de tal manera por el grupo a causa de sus recientes problemas (la muerte del hijo del vocalista Robert Plant) y el auge de la música punk. De la misma forma que el trabajo de Presence corresponde en gran parte a Jimmy Page, In Through the Out Door tiene en John Paul Jones su principal valedor, escribiendo para este proyecto 6 de los 7 temas.

Dos canciones del álbum ("South Bound Saurez" y "All My Love"), fueron las únicas canciones en la historia de la banda para las cuales no participó Jimmy Page en la escritura. Además, debido al problema de alcoholismo de John Bonham muchas de las canciones fueron grabadas en sesiones ajenas entre los miembros de la banda; con Plant y Jones trabajando durante el día y agregándose las partes de Page y Bonham durante las noches. Para "All My Love", Bonham, le pidió ayuda a Jeff Porcaro de Toto.[1]

Para la portada, obra de Hipgnosis,[2] Page obligó a que recrearan un bar de Nueva Orleans, el viejo "Absenta", donde en 1918 Aleister Crowley escribió un poema mientras esperaba a una chica, momento que se recrea en una fotografía tomada desde seis perspectivas distintas, en tono ocre, en la que el personaje principal quema un papel, rodeado de prostitutas. Page conoció allí a su mujer y cuando el grupo se encontraba tocando en la ciudad solían acudir allí a emborracharse. Cuando se inundó la ciudad los tres miembros supervivientes le dedicaron un homenaje en su página web.
