Tweeter

Un tweeter es un transductor electroacústico diseñado para la reproducción específica de sonidos correspondientes a las más altas frecuencias (aproximadamente, las tres últimas octavas del total de diez) del rango de audiofrecuencia.

Dada la corta longitud de onda que caracteriza a las ondas acústicas que producen estos transductores (entre 2 y 14 cm en el aire a temperatura ambiente), la difracción es pequeña y, por tanto, la direccionalidad grande. El sonido emitido por estos dispositivos es el más fácil de localizar.

Dado que el oído humano pierde con la edad la capacidad para percibir las frecuencias más altas, se trata de un transductor que sólo pueden escuchar, en la última mitad de la última octava, individuos jóvenes con oídos sanos.
