Margaret Herrick

Margaret Herrick (27 de septiembre de 1902; Spokane, Washington - 21 de junio de 1976; Woodland Hills, California) fue una bibliotecaria de la Academia de Cine y Artes Escénicas estadounidense que ha pasado a la historia por bautizar a la estatuilla de los premios cómo Óscar, puesto que le recordaba a su tío de homónimo nombre.

De nombre de soltera Margaret Buck, ocupó el cargo en la biblioteca antes mencionada desde 1931 para asumir el rol de su esposo, que fue destinado al frente de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y de forma definitiva tras su divorcio. En 1964 asumió el puesto de Director Ejecutivo hasta 1971, fecha en la que fue nombrada Director Emérito. La biblioteca de la Academia lleva hoy su nombre en su homenaje.
