En la mitología griega Pentos era un daimon o espíritu, hijo de Éter y Gea, que personificaba la aflicción, el pesar y los lamentos, pudiendo ser uno de los algea. Su equivalente romano era Luctus.
Acompañó a la erinia Tisífone para volver loco a Atamas, y también asistió a Hefestos cuando forjó el funesto collar de Harmonía, que convirtió en desgraciados a quienes lo poseyeron.
