Contenido

História

Raghupati fue popularizada, alrededor del mundo, por Gandhi durante la marcha de la sal, contra el imperio británico.

Es una variación de otro bhajan del poeta maratí del siglo XVII Ramdás.

Letra

La versión popularizada por Mahatma Gandhi en Hindú dice:

रघुपित राघव राजाराम, पतित पावन सीताराम

सीताराम सीताराम, भज प्यारे तू सीताराम

ईश्वर अल्लाह तेरो नाम, सब को सन्मित दे भगवान


Transliteración:

Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram, Patita pavana Sita Ram, Sita Ram Sita Ram, Bhaj pyare tu Sitaram, Ishwara Allah Tere nam, Sabko Sanmati de Bhagavan.


Traducción:

Señor Rama, dueño de la casa de Raghu, Exaltación de aquellos que han caído, Sita y Rama, Amado, alabemos a Sita y a Rama, Dios o Alá es tu nombre, Señor, bendícenos con sabiduría.


En alguna versión le añaden esta frase:

जय रघुनंदन जय सिया राम जानकी वल्लभ सीताराम
