Se llama time-lapse a una secuencia de vídeo acelerada, donde los acontecimientos suceden a una velocidad mucho más rápida de la normal.

Realización

Existen varios métodos para la realización de videos con la técnica Time-Lapse, entre los que se encuentran:

  • Grabar una secuencia con una vídeo cámara, para posteriormente acelerar la película en cualquier programa de edición de vídeo.
  • Otro método es la captación de imágenes a determinados intervalos de tiempo. Vamos disparando una fotografía cada cierto tiempo, y al unir esas imágenes en un programa de edición de vídeo en nuestro ordenador, obtenemos una película con el efecto de imagen acelerada característico del time-lapse.

Usos

Esta técnica tiene múltiples usos entre los que destacan:

  • Mostrar sucesos cuya duración es excesiva para ser visualizada. Un ejemplo de esto es este vídeo en el que se muestra el crecimiento de un árbol a lo largo de cuatro meses en un vídeo de apenas quince segundos. Se tomó una fotografía al día durante cuatro meses. Este otro ejemplo refleja el paso del tiempo en una gran ciudad.
  • En algunas películas o series, se muestra al personaje central de la acción a velocidad normal, mientras el fondo se mueve a velocidades muy superiores.
  • Cuando no se dispone de una videocámara, pero si de una cámara fotográfica.
