Trotwood se encuentra ubicada en las coordenadas 39°47′31″N 84°19′19″O / 39.79194, -84.32194. Según la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos, Trotwood tiene una superficie total de 79.02 km², de la cual 78.98 km² corresponden a tierra firme y (0.05%) 0.04 km² es agua.[3]

De los 24431 habitantes, Trotwood estaba compuesto por el 28.1% blancos, el 68.19% eran afroamericanos, el 0.24% eran amerindios, el 0.33% eran asiáticos, el 0.03% eran isleños del Pacífico, el 0.51% eran de otras razas y el 2.6% pertenecían a dos o más razas.
