Corriverton es una ciudad del condado de Berbice ubicada en la frontera oriental del Guyana. Se ubica en la margen occidental del río Courantyne, opuesto a la ciudad de Nueva Nickerie en Surinam. Esta constituida por dos poblaciones antiguas, Springlands y Skeldon, y varias villas azucareras, cuyos nombres provienen de los nombres de las plantaciones de azúcar.

Origen del nombre

El nombre de Corriverton viene de la fusión de las palabras Courantyne River Town.

Corriverton se encuentra a 313 km de Georgetown. Un servicio de trasbordador la comunica con Nueva Nickerie.

Etnicidad

Corriverton tiene una población descendiente de hindúes y africanos y que practican el hinduismo, el islam y el cristianismo, por esta razón, no es extraño encontrar numerosos templos hindúes, mezquitas e iglesias.
