Debendranath Tagore (15 de mayo, 1817, Calcuta - 19 de enero, 1905, Calcuta) fue un religioso reformista y filósofo hindú.

Nacido en una familia acaudalada propietaria de tierras, fue educado en filosofía oriental y occidental. Esforzándose en purgar al hinduismo de sus abusos, se pronunció vehementemente en contra del sati (la bárbara costumbre de arrojar a las viudas en la pira funeraria del marido) y trató de poner la educación al alcance de todos. Fue miembro del Brahmo Samaj.

En su afán de desaparecer la idolatría y las prácticas antidemocráticas, rechazó toda la literatura védica por considerarlos deficientes en dictaminar las pautas del comportamiento humano. Al fracasar en su búsqueda de un punto medio entre el racionalismo radical y el conservadurismo brahmán, se retiró de la vida pública. Conocido cariñosamente como majarshi (mahā-rishi: ‘gran sabio’ en sánscrito), fue el padre de Rabindranath Tagore.
