The Village, (conocida como "El bosque" o "La aldea"), es una película estadounidense del año 2004 escrita y dirigida por M. Night Shyamalan. Fue nominada a un Premio Oscar por su Banda Sonora.

Trama

La película transcurre en una aldea detenida en el siglo XIX en medio de un bosque, todo comienza en el funeral de un niño. Los aldeanos viven atemorizados por unos seres a los que se refieren como "los innombrables", tal es el temor, que construyeron torres de vigilancia y pusieron banderas amarillas alrededor de la aldea, alegando que el color amarillo protege contra el rojo, color del que visten las criaturas y por el que se sienten atraídos. De ese modo los seres no entrarían en la aldea y la gente de la aldea no se adentraría en el bosque, aunque aún así empiezan a aparecer animales muertos por todas partes.

Tras la muerte del niño, Lucius Hunt (Joaquín Phoenix), pide al consejo del pueblo atravesar el bosque y llegar a la ciudad para poder comprar medicinas; su petición es denegada y es amonestado por su madre Alice (Sigourney Weaver), pero él no hace caso a las advertencias y se aventura en el bosque, lo que hace que las criaturas se enfurezcan y se adentren en el pueblo. Lucius Hunt resulta herido debido a un problema de celos entre los personajes, y para salvar su vida se necesitan medicinas de la ciudad, considerando que para llegar se debe cruzar el bosque donde habitan los innombrables.
