Flavius Afranius Syagrius

Flavius Afranius Syagrius (n. cir. 345) era un político romano y el administrador y era el padre de Papianilla, (madre de Tonantius Ferreolus). Él era descendiente paterno romano de un Senador galorromano. En el 369 Afranio era Notario, fue Magister Memoriae en el 379, se hizo procónsul de África en 379, praefectus Urbis Romae en 381, praefectus praetorio Italiae en 382 , y era el cónsul con Flavio Claudio Antonio en 382.

Flavius era su nombre, Afranius era el cognomen, y Syagrius era un apellido que quiere decir " el jabalí" Él fue enterrado en Lyon, Francia, entonces Lugdunum, bajo un monumento imponente en la puerta de ciudad, y una estatua de él fue erigida en la ciudad.

Él era también el más probable el antepasado de Afranius Aegidius y su hijo Afranius Syagrius, así como un pariente de su precursor Flavius Syagrius, Cónsul en el 381, quien era un amigo y correspondiente de Symmachus, un orador notable y el defensor vigoroso del paganismo.
