Herman Chernoff (nace el 1 de julio de 1923 en Nueva York, N.Y.) es un matemático estadístico estadounidense. Más conocido por sus trabajos.

Biografía

Chernoff consigue en 1943 un bachillerato en Ciencias matemáticas, física del nebenfach, a Universidad del centro de ciudad de Nueva York. el Unir-extremo estaba como físico con eso U.S. Marina de guerra empleado. , su comenzó 1946 PH.D. Tesis dentro de la gama de las matemáticas aplicadas en eso Universidad Marrón y terminó Universidad de Colombia. El salir de 1948 estaba en ése Universidad De Chicago, saliendo de 1951 en eso Universidad De Stanford. cambió 1974, donde un centro de la estadística basado, y 1985 en ése Departamento De Estadística de la Universidad de Harvard.

En 1947, se casa con Judy Ullman.

Chernoff fue presidente del Instituto de Estadística Matemática y es miembro seleccionado para la Academia Americana de Ciencias. En ocasión de sus 60 cumpleaños se honró su labor con la publicación de "Avances recientes en estadística". Su principal área de trabajo es la Estadística donde hizo varias contribuciones fundamentales.
