Manta Ray fue un grupo de post rock asturiano, formado en Gijón en 1992.[1] Fue uno de los más relevantes dentro del llamado Xixón Sound. Entre sus miembros figuró como guitarrista Nacho Vegas, que abandonó la banda en 1999[1] para iniciar su carrera en solitario.

El 28 de febrero de 2008 anunciaron su separación a través de un comunicado oficial:

Manta Ray, tras 15 años de carrera, hemos decidido dar por finalizada nuestra trayectoria musical. Nos llevamos un recuerdo muy especial de todos estos años, de cada disco y de cada concierto que hemos dado. Nos gustaría aprovechar esta última oportunidad para dar las gracias a todas aquellas personas que nos han brindado su apoyo a lo largo de todo este tiempo. Hasta siempre.[1]
