George Charles Wallich

George Charles Wallich ( 16 de noviembre 1815 , Calcuta - 1899) fue un doctor en medicina, algólogo, biólogo marino inglés.

Era hijo del naturalista danés naturalizado británico Nathaniel Wallich (1786-1854) que dirigía el Jardín botánico Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose de Calcuta. Obtuvo su título de doctorado en medicina, en Edimburgo en 1834 y luego entró en el Indian Medical Service, cargo que ocupó hasta 1857, cuando regresa a Gran Bretaña. Teniendo en cuenta sus observaciones sobre la vida marina, Thomas Henry Huxley (1825-1895) y Sir Roderick Murchison (1792-1871) lo recomendaron como naturalista, de la expedición del H.M.S. Bulldog , en 1860.
