The Gathering es el octavo álbum de estudio de la banda estadounidense de thrash metal Testament, lanzado el 8 de junio de 1999.[1]

Por la crítica, el disco fue acogido de forma muy positiva, de forma que periodistas como Jason Hundey (Allmusic) lo reconocen como uno de sus mejores trabajos discográficos,[1] y hasta Amazon llamo a la banda entre el top 5 de los mejores grupos de thrash metal.[2]

Musicalmente, este es mucho más rápido y pesado que los álbumes anteriores de la banda, y la letra más oscura. Chuck Billy utiliza algunas de sus técnicas vocales más agresivas, y en varias canciones agrega voces guturales. También la velocidad de las canciones fue influenciada por Eric Peterson (que participo en el proyecto alterno de black metal Dragonlord) y Dave Lombardo (baterista de Slayer).[1]

Alcanzó el puesto #48 de las listas musicales alemanas y noruegas.[3] [4]
