Zuara o Zuwarah (en árabe: زوارة, Zuwarah) es una localidad de Libia, capital del distrito de An Nuqat al Khams. Está situada a 60 km de la frontera de Túnez.[3]

Su población estimada del año 2010 era de 39.561 habitantes.[2] Una mayoría habla zenatí, una lengua bereber.[3] La ciudad, situada entre una autopista y el mar Mediterráneo, destaca por sus playas de arena blanca.[4]

Historia

La ciudad fue mencionada por primera vez por León el Africano. Zuara fue la última zona de las costas de Trípoli y cirenaica que colonizaron los italianos.[8]

En 1973 Muammar al-Gaddafi proclamó en ella la Revolución cultural libia. En el marco de las protestas en Libia de 2011, la ciudad cayó en manos de los opositores al gobierno el 24 de febrero.
