Pitfall! es un videojuego de scroll horizontal, en el cual el protagonista (un aventurero al estilo de Indiana Jones) debe salir de un bosque peligroso, esquivando serpientes, saltando cocodrilos y troncos que amenazan con aplastarlo.

Este videojuego fue ideado y programado por David Crane con sprites gráficos de pocos colores por el hardware limitado de Atari 2600 que era complicado programar, fue lanzado al mercado para la consola Atari 2600 en 1982, y tuvo un gran éxito de ventas.
